injection defects : Short shot
Short shot :
Short shot refers to the incompleteness of the shot product caused by the incompleteness of the mold.
This defect usually occurs at the farthest point from the gate, or in the part that needs to be reached through the narrow part of the die, because the narrow part may hinder the flow of melt.
Short shot may cause very small spots or obvious loss of most products 。
Possible causes of short shot are:
Insufficient raw materials injected into the mold;
The melt flow resistance is too large to flow to all parts of the tool ;
Poor mold exhaust forms cavitation, which blocks the melt from flowing to some parts of the mold.
